How preventive healthcare for children became a natural and trusted part of everyday life
In 2026, Youth Health Care celebrates a special milestone: 125 years of supporting the health and development of children and young people. To mark this occasion, the Municipality of The Hague is presenting an exhibition at the Atrium City Hall from November 5 until November 13.
Take a step back in time and discover how youth health care has evolved over the past 125 years. From the first child health clinic on Regentesselaan to the modern preventive youth health services provided today through The Centrum voor jeugd en Gezin (CJG). Youth physicians, youth nurses, and other professionals work together to help all children in The Hague grow up healthy, safe, and with every opportunity to thrive.
Youth Health Care Through the Years
Follow a timeline filled with stories, photographs, and milestones that illustrate how generations of children in The Hague have been supported in their health and development.
In addition to stories and photographs, visitors can explore a collection of historical objects. These items take visitors back in time and evoke memories of visits to child health clinics, school health examinations, and other familiar moments from childhood.
Be inspired by the remarkable development of youth health care and discover the important role that The Hague has played in the history of youth health care in the Netherlands.
An exhibition full of recognition, inspiring stories, and cherished memories for young and old alike.
