Between April 9 until May 2 the Photo Exhibition The Good, the Bad and the Roma can be seen in the Atrium City Hall.

The influence of images and portrayals on society is enormous. This exhibition is an invitation for reflection on perception.

For about 15 years, Den Haag based photographer Peter van Beek travelled with Roma en Sinti in Eastern Europe and collected his photos in the book The good, the bad, the Roma. A book about the largest minority group in Europe.

For the project Eens waren we vogels, Van Beek creates a new exhibition in which he pairs atypical portraits of Roma and Sinti with portraits from his earlier work. This way, he presents other faces, new stories and shatters existing stereotypes associated with the community.

About Eens waren we vogels
The photo exhibition is part of Eens waren we vogels. The history and culture of Roma and Sinti through various artistic expressions will be demonstrated. As well as the forgotten Holocaust and the current challenges the community faces. It is special to establish a common creative project that shatters stereotypes and tells a different story.
