From 1 to 12 December, the Atrium City Hall presents the photo exhibition See Me: Stories That Do Not Look Away. This compelling exhibition highlights personal experiences of exclusion and discrimination, told in the first person by people who have lived through such moments.

The portraits on display were created using artificial intelligence and show faces that do not exist. The stories behind them, however, are real. They reflect moments when a look, a comment or a situation made someone feel that they did not belong. The exhibition shows how deeply such moments can affect a person and how much courage it takes to speak up.

Through short and powerful monologues, See Me invites visitors to pause and reflect on what exclusion does to someone. Each story contains something vulnerable and something strong. It speaks of the need to be seen, the wish for fairness, and the resilience that arises when people claim their place.

The exhibition encourages visitors to look through someone else’s eyes, fostering understanding and awareness. An inclusive city begins with listening, making space for every story and recognizing that everyone deserves to feel safe and welcome.

See Me is an initiative of the Municipal Ombudsman and Youth Ombudsman of The Hague and Leidschendam-Voorburg, together with Discriminatie.nl The Hague.
