On December 1 it is World Aids Day and for this reason the GGD Haaglanden organizes the exhibition Aids in the Netherlands from December 1 until December 22 in the Atrium of the City Hall.

This exhibition provides information in an accessible way about the history of HIV and aids in the Netherlands and in The Hague, by means of photos, posters and newspapers. The old newspapers shows the fear that prevailed when HIV was discovered and the emergence of activist groups. The exhibition also provides insight into the taboos and stigma against people living with HIV. In addition, the exhibition shows whether a future without new HIV infections is possible and also provides insight into HIV care during the corona pandemic.

The exhibition is a collaboration of various partner organizations in sexual health in The Hague: GGD Haaglanden Department of Health Promotion, Center for Sexual Health GGD Haaglanden, COC Haaglanden, HIV Vereniging Haaglanden region, Leiden e.o., and Buddy Network.
