From July 13 until August 9, 4PM an exhibition about Ales Bialiatski can be seen in the Atrium City Hall, organized by MARA. The exhibition describes the complex but consistent struggle of Belarusian human rights activist Ales Bialiatski over his democratic values ​​from his student movement to his Nobel Peace Prize.

Ales Bialiatski (September 25, 1962 – Wjartsilja, Karelië, Rusland)
Ales Bialiatski is the founder of the Human Rights Center Viasna in Lithuania and has dedicated his entire life to the present to the protection and promotion of human rights in Belarus. In 2022 he became a laureate of the Nobel Peace Prize, together with the Ukrainian Center for Civil Liberties and the Russian human rights organization Memorial. Ales is currently a political prisoner. Since July 14, 2021, he has been behind bars together with other human rights defenders from Viasna for their peaceful human rights activities and helping the oppressed Belarusians.

MARA
MARA is an association of Belarusians in the Netherlands. The objectives of MARA are to protect the rights of Belarusians and provide assistance to persons persecuted for political, national or other reasons, to promote the development of Belarusian civil society and institutions, as well as the development of the Belarusian language and culture.
