The photo exhibition Welcome Home from photographer Henk Warrink can be seen from June 10 until July 3 in the Atrium City Hall. This photo project highlights the human side of people with a veteran status. Who are these people, and how do they deal with both the emotions and situations they are placed in? Taking these questions as a starting point, Henk Warrink as both a photographer but also as a veteran himself, seeks out fellow veterans. To explore their motivations, experiences and how they have to come to terms with them. During the project, the veterans are documented in an environment which was both familiar and comfortable to them. Because there are no visible references to their military background, the project focusses on the person itself and not their status (as a veteran). Captured technically in (mostly) analogue portraits in medium and large formats, and stylistically in timeless black and white.
Publication
During the exhibition in the Atrium City Hall a publication is available in which all documented 151 veterans and 10 experts are brought together in a physical publication of 336 pages.
